My Therapy

We headed to Portland Nursery on Wednesday.I was so excited!! It's right up there with buying new shoes or a new purse!

" Lungwort"

I can't remember the name of this, but I loved the texture and curl of the leaves.

Sweet, sweet little Pansies.

I do about 1/2 dozen pots with my own creative mix, but I loved this ensemble so I had to buy it. I told Bruce to consider it an early Mother's Day present!!

Love, love these Tulips! They're called Red Riding Hood.

They call this "poor man's orchid".

Succulants. I have a low, wide red burgundy colored pot for these. I love the way they will eventually "spill" over the edges. Hens and Chicks,Silver Stone Sedum, Stone Crop Sedum, Blue Fesue, Lemon Curl Sedum

I came home and discovered that I'm out of potting soil. Ha ha! It's supposed in the high 70's this weekend, so I'll have a chance to dig in the dirt and plant on Saturday. Woo Hoo!!

Now You Know

*The liquid inside young coconuts can be used as a substitute for blood plasma.
*No piece of paper can be folded in half more than seven (7) times. (go ahead and try, I'll wait)
*Donkeys kill more people annually than plane crashes.
*You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching television.
*Oak trees do not produce acorns until they are fifty (50) years of age or older.
*The first product to have a bar code was Wrigley's gum.
*The King of Hearts is the only king without a mustache.
*American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one (1) olive from each salad served in first-class.
*Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise. (Since Venus is normally associated with women, what does this tell you?)
*Pearls melt in vinegar.
*The three most valuable brand names on earth: Marlboro, Coca Cola, and Budweiser, in that order.
*It is possible to lead a cow upstairs..... but not downstairs.
*A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.
*Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least six (6) feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush. (I now keep mine in the living room!)

* Turtles can breathe through their butts.

My Son-Mr. Sensitive

Chris and I were standing outside Lux taking a break.
A very, very cute-very, very old man walked by:

Me: awww wasn't he cute?
Chris: I just want to take him home and give him a bath.
Me: he didn't look dirty, Chris!
Chris: I know. I just want to take him home and take care of him. Give him a bath and feed
him some soup.
Me: awwww

Mama Mia

Ella loves the music from Mama Mia. Her mama bought her the soundtrack, which she brought over on Sunday. "Gramma, Gramma, let's go "lithen" in your room!". I was amazed when she started to sing along. She knows lyrics from every single song! At three and 1/2, I'm pretty sure all I knew were nursery rhymes!

The pictures were taken when she was watching the movie. I asked her if she wanted to see it again since it's available On Demand. Of course she said yes..

She prompted me to "watch and listen" when she knew a song was coming. I love the musica of Abba, and I think Ella might have been a little surprised that gramma could sing most of the songs.

It cracked me up when she said "He's not her father".... Of course, she has no idea what the plot of the movie is about!!

"Mama Mia, here I go again...."

From Portland With Love.....

Spring is showing it's pretty little face.

Look at my pretty little hostas...ahhhhh

Clematis, schlematis
The 40 foot willow in my front yard. See the little bird feeder? (so cute!) There was a woodpecker working his stuff in this tree last weekend. rat-a-tat-tat. This gigantic tree (which really is my nemesis) is home to squirrels, barn owls and now I guess a woodpecker....

And totally unrelated to spring. A pic of the Lavender Cosmpolitan I had at dinner last night.
(to die for yummy..)

I'm A Fan

(I know the picture is dark, but hey it is March in Oregon which means no light)

Of cool blowing air when I'm sleeping. In fact, it's a must no matter what time of year it is. Poor Bruce just lays on his side of the bed with the covers pulled up to his chin.

This is my new fan. We have a fan graveyard in one corner of our garage. We've tried tower fans over and over, and since I keep a fan running 24/7 they peter out in about 6 months.

I'm hoping that this one complete with THREE multi pivoting fans will do the trick. Maybe I can keep my pj's on all night!!!
